Instruments in the Orchestra by Thomas Leypoldt

ymphony orchestras have as many as 100 musicians performing on 17 types of instruments, as collected in the photograph above.  The table below lists 22 types of musical instruments.  The five additional types in the list are occasionally featured in concert with an orchestra.  Solvers should be able to place each instrument in one of the four "Traditional Families."

The table has an additional column labeled "Unnamed Family," in which six instruments are already indicated as belonging.  Solvers might assume that those instruments have some common attribute.  What is it?  Oh, and can you identify the "Mystery" instrument?
